WASHINGTON, D.C. February 4th, 2025– The United States Minority Chamber of Commerce (USMCC) today announced its strong endorsement of Lori Chavez-DeRemer for U.S. Secretary of Labor. The Chamber will present its formal endorsement letter to the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions ahead of confirmation hearings.
“Ms. Chavez-DeRemer’s confirmation would mark a historic milestone and bring valuable leadership to the Department of Labor,” said Doug Mayorga, CEO and Founder of the USMCC. “With our membership of 38,000 businesses and network of 250,000 minority-owned firms, we strongly support her nomination based on her demonstrated commitment to American workers and minority businesses.”
Chavez-DeRemer’s track record includes initiatives to protect American jobs, expand workforce training and apprenticeship programs, promote wage growth, and strengthen U.S. manufacturing employment. Her experience as both a business owner and public servant provides her with unique insights into the challenges facing America’s workforce.
The Chamber particularly anticipates collaborating with Chavez-DeRemer on streamlining the labor certification process for foreign talent visas, a key priority for minority-owned businesses. “An efficient certification system through the Chamber’s Foreign Labor Program will help address illegal immigration while meeting crucial workforce needs,” said Mr. Luis Ramirez, Senior Official of the Honduras Business HUB in Tegucigalpa.
