Matt Johnson, former Principal at Mountain View in Vancouver WA, was just featured in Authority Magazine

“I love being an educator, but there are definitely some challenges that come with the job,” Matt said. “One of the biggest challenges I’ve had was finding a way to connect with each student on an individual level.”

Matt is passionate about education and its ability to transform lives. He is a strong advocate for educators and believes that they play a vital role in society. He is also committed to ensuring that all students have access to quality education.

“I believe that all students deserve access to quality education. Every student has the potential to succeed, regardless of their circumstances. As educators, it’s our job to provide them with the support they need to reach their full potential and be impactful citizens.”

Aside from that, he also emphasized that since education is constantly changing, educators need to be continuously learning and updating their knowledge and skills.

“Education is constantly evolving, which means that educators need to be continuously learning,” said Matt. “We need to stay up-to-date with the latest research and trends so that we can provide our students with the best possible education.”

Matt Johnson is a highly effective educator with over 21 years of experience in the field. He is currently the CCTE Program Manager for Evergreen Public Schools in Vancouver, WA.

Prior to his new role, he served as a teacher, high school sports coach, Dean of Students, Associate Principal, and Principal. He has two Bachelor’s degrees from the University of Washington – one in History and another in Zoology. In addition, he holds a Master’s degree in Teaching from the same institution.

In 2000, Matt started his career in education as a high school Science teacher. He worked at Heritage High School in Vancouver for 7 years while also coaching the Football and Baseball teams. After that, he went to Union High School, where he was a Science teacher and Assistant Football Coach for 3 years.

After 3 years of teaching, he was promoted to Dean of Students. He served in this role for a year before being promoted to Associate Principal. He held this position for 3 years until he was appointed as the Principal of Mountain View High School, where he served from 2014 to 2021.

Most recently, Matt transitioned into his new role as the CCTE Program Manager for Evergreen Public Schools. In this role, he is responsible for providing leadership and support for the district’s Career and Technical Education programs.

He has been in education for over 21 years and the knowledge and experiences he has gained throughout his career have made him an effective leader in the field.
