Kenneth Price Shares Insights into the Making of Inventing Paradise:
We had the opportunity to speak with writer Kenneth Price about his experience crafting this emotionally charged film. He offered a glimpse into memorable moments on set and the challenges of tackling such a sensitive subject.
Q: Ken, what were some of your most memorable moments on set or favorite scenes to film?
Kenneth Price: “There are so many, it’s hard to keep track. It was a tad scary working with a child actor for the first time, but luckily Huntly was a pro. He came in around week 3 of filming and just killed it. I can’t wait to work with him again and see all the terrific things he will accomplish.
I also particularly enjoyed breaks between takes with Monanik, where we would sit around and joke, rehearsing a particular scene from the film. To this day, we still text each other lines from that one particular scene! It was also a delight reuniting with Sierra, whom we worked together with in the past on my web series. She brought a fierce fire to the role of Vanessa that stunned me.”
Q: As an experienced filmmaker, how was taking on Inventing Paradise different for you?
Kenneth Price: “I dabbled before in the past with serious dramas, but those emotions always felt far too real for me, and that’s something I actively tried to avoid as a filmmaker. I’ll admit, I got into making horror movies to scare people, but I realized soon that I have a power as a storyteller to send a message worldwide that you’re not alone in your grief. You’re not alone in your sadness. There is a light at the end of that tunnel. Also, don’t be afraid to box yourself in a single genre; dare to be different. Be inspirational.”
