Los Angeles – Based Kfir Gavrieli and Tieks Raise $87,782 for Ukrainian Refugees in a Virtual Auction

Beverly Hills, CA– Tieks by Gavrieli recently hosted the #TieksForUkraine virtual auction and raffle to help the crisis in Ukraine. The online event featured the company’s signature ballet flats with 100% of the proceeds supporting Ukrainian refugees. Thanks to the generous donations and bids from Tieks fans, the company raised a massive $87,782 for the cause.

The popular online retailer will be donating that lump sum to the World Central Kitchen #ChefsforUkraine initiative. The organization has set up camp on eight border crossings, supporting refugees with millions of meals around the clock. The borders encompassed by this initiative include Ukraine, Poland, Romania, Moldova, and Hungry, among others. Volunteers are hard at work, offering families meals and supplies as they flee the war.

The Tieks online event saw past limited edition shoes and bygone styles up for sale. For the first time, fans of the brand had the opportunity to buy one-of-a-kind styles through bidding. The four-day-long charity bonanza included a raffle in which people could win some never-seen-before prizes. When the event opened, the first two hours saw thousands of bids flying in, with many rare ballet shoes going for more than $4,000.

“I am humbled that my company can serve as a conduit for such a meaningful purpose through this auction,” Kfir Gavrieli, founder of Tieks, said. “In solidarity with the people of Ukraine, who have lost so much and shown immense courage and strength, our community wants to contribute to the Ukrainian people in a meaningful way. My hope is that through the auction proceeds, World Central Kitchen will be able to provide tens of thousands of meals for Ukrainians braving this unimaginable war.”

The raffle cost just $1 to enter and featured one grand prize — Mirage, a one-of-a-kind pair of ballet flats in a sparkly sand hue. One lucky entrant, Tesia C., won the shoes as part of the event. However, there were plenty more prizes available. Ten other entrants were given $100 gift vouchers to be spent at the online website’s bespoke BouTiek.

It doesn’t end there. Tieks fans were eager to bid for their favorite ballet shoes in the auction. The Brown Ostrich Tieks went for the highest price, fetching a massive $6,500. Those were closely followed by the Giraffe Tieks at $5,100 and then the Arabian Night design at $5,010, and Tosani also at $5,010. The Black Ostrich shoes were just a dollar behind at $5,009, with True Love Red coming in at $3,055 and Red Diamond at $2,501.

Before now, limited edition Tieks were released on special occasions, like the Back Friday sales. Since the limited-edition designs are always popular, they tend to sell out within 24 to 48 hours of going live on the website. Tieks has always drawn the attention of followers of the brand with unique designs. The #TieksForUkraine gave fans a chance to get their hands on these coveted designs while supporting a cause.
