This Independent Film Sparks New Dialogues About Motherhood and Its Consequential Decisions.
New York, New York – In “Después,” highly acclaimed actress and one of the most recognizable figures in the Mexican entertainment industry, Ludwika Paleta, plays Carmen, a mother grappling with the incomprehensible death of her only son, Jorge (Nicolás Haza). Carmen’s journey to understand her son’s probable suicide challenges her understanding of motherhood. As she revisits her past – passions, identity, decisions, as well as the breakup with Jorge’s father – she confronts the loss of her own identity.
Reflecting on her experience, actress Ludwika Paleta remarked, “This film was a deeply personal journey, almost as if I were telling my own story, exploring a fine line between fiction and reality.” Ludwika has been recognized with numerous awards and nominations, including a nomination for the Ariel Award for Best Actress in 2006 for her role in “Rumbos Paralelos” (directed by Rafael Montero) and a Silver Goddess for Best Actress in 2014 for “No sé si cortarme las venas o dejármelas largas” (directed by Manolo Caro). Her work in television has also kept her a prominent and influential figure in the entertainment industry, with roles in popular series such as “La Querida del Centauro” (Telemundo), “Rubirosa” (Clarovideo), “Madre solo hay dos” (Netflix), “DOM” (Prime Video), and “Bellas Artes” (Star+).
